2010
Bye-bye 2010, Hello 2011!
Well what an interesting year 2010 has been! Full of geekiness, business, sexiness, hard work, fun, music, education, friends, family, relocation, Twitter and Facebook…
I thought I’d write a blog post (as I should really practise what I preach more, always too busy blogging for other companies, but more about that later..) to help commemorate 2010, act as a diary update, and talk about what myself and my projects are going to be in 2011. Also, it might just act as a way of explaining what I do, as you get terribly confused by it! ☺
I started 2010 with an extremely hard decision about my career and my happiness; I was working for one of the leading Digital Marketing agencies in the UK as IT Manager. I had been working there for 3 years more or less and had created the job position from scratch (along with its department) alongside the Chief Technical Officer and board of Directors. At the end of those 3 years I was running the IT infrastructure for the whole group of companies including ones in London, New York and Melbourne. We kept the department small, just myself reporting to CTO, and an IT assistant for 1st line support. Together we were able to support the international companies and it was an amazingly fulfilling but incredibly busy job – I often though about getting a bed in the server room just to enable me to sleep more. I loved the job and also got involved in various other departments, working in Web Development, and helping develop the Social Technology/Social SEO offerings. I loved all of the senior team who I worked day to day with as well as all of the team members I supported.
Why am I telling you this? Well just so it paints the picture of the decision I had to make. During the last few months (2009) there were commercial and hierarchy struggles within the company causing various senior staff the change and the appointment of new senior staff. Now we all know the story of appointing new senior staff, they (for some unknown reason) seem to think that everything needs to change. Although my department wasn’t directly effected, certain appointments has started to desire their own colleagues in my position instead of me. This of cause led to some (in my opinion) rather childish finger pointing (for no reason) and generally made it hard for me to see a future continuing working there. It was quite upsetting, but this is business so I took it on the chin and made the hard decision that after 3 years I had to move on and let my “babies” go (the infrastructure and department – yes I am a geek!).
Let me be clear though, I left still friends with the people I’d worked with for those 3 years, and still do various bits and bobs of work with them commercially and on personal projects. I mean no harm by writing the above, but as I said this blog post is acting as a diary update for me.
Anyway, onwards! During those past few months I had gotten in touch again with an old friend I had done some “work” with when I was a teenager. You might already presume/guess but this work was with www.eurocreme.com – my more naughty of projects. Talking with the CEO of the Eurocreme Group it became clear that I may be able to help them with their IT, Digital Marketing (SEO, Social Technology, PPC), Tech Project Management and various other geeky bits and bobs.
This is the first point to clear up; I feel I am (whilst still being gorgeous hehe) not as porn-pretty as I was when I first did films, so I have not been in front of camera on porn films since being a teenager. I have however spent the past year marketing and developing web-delivery of (and having lots of fun doing so) adult films for Eurocreme and its partners.
So on a freelance basis I have been working with Eurocreme (alongside various other projects – more below) for the past year and its been loads of fun!!
Whistle-stop tour of 2010:
- Digital Marketing (SEO, PPC, Social Technology) for Eurocreme Group
- Development of new platform for live and pre-record streaming of video media using various technologies
- Creation of social marketing network of sites for various clients.
- Technical Project planning and management
- Part of the team creating a new online adult streaming portal (business and technology wise) www.prowler.tv
- Management of IT systems for various clients
- Management of Web systems for various clients
- Creation and Management of Boy Banned
The last point of that is my next topic: Boy Banned
It has been an amazing opportunity to work with the team to create Boy Banned. We have been on a process of evolution and it is now a very exciting and professional project. I have always loved music and theatre, some of you may know that I grew up in theatre before I became a geek. I have always wanted to get back involved with music/theatre and one evening over a lovely Diesel Juice (Archers and Blue WKD – try it, don’t forget its name!) with my band manager colleague we came up with the idea of creating a new boy band. A band going back to the roots of boy bands and created real pop music.
In just over a year we have taken that idea and created a pop group ready to launch into the charts in January 2011. They are an amazing talented group you will be hearing a lot more off me about them in the coming few months. Help us get into the charts by pre-ordering our next single “Street Lights” – available from Boy Banned
So where does that leave 2010, well there is the last point that I have moved away from London back to the Midlands (where I am from) – for various reasons. I am starting up a new Technology and Web Company and I want to be near Manchester, Birmingham, Wales and a quick train ride to London. A new data company and language education portal. There is also the fact I missed family (and London is a hard working place, not much time to get back to see family) and also my oldest friends.
So 2011 is looking exciting! New business, development current business, Boy Banned and much much more I’m sure!
Summary for 2011:
- More adult marketing – offers coming your way soon
- More digital marketing for various clients – the ones with offers and interesting bits for you I will share
- New Technology and Web Company
- New Data Company
- New Language education portal
- Boy Banned (www.boybanned.com)
- Much visiting and travelling to see friends and business contacts
So looks busy and good. Not sure whom I am writing this for/to but I think that covers it…I hope I didn’t bore! I haven’t covered friends etc but just know that you are all lovely, and I love you all!
Have an amazing New Year and be in touch!
